Public Consultation - Closure of Horizons Satellite Site in East Sussex
London South East Academies Trust, in partnership with East Sussex County Council is consulting on a proposal to permanently close the satellite alternative provision in East Sussex that is linked to Horizons Academy Bexley.
Delivered by London South East Academies Trust (LSEAT), it was established in June 2025 as a short‑term measure to meet an urgent need for high‑quality support for children and young people who had been permanently excluded or were without a suitable school place. The provision supported up to 40 pupils locally, offering flexible, part‑time and personalised education to help them re‑engage with learning and prepare for reintegration. It drew on the Trust’s established expertise in delivering alternative provision while longer‑term improvements to the system were developed.
Since September 2025, a new model of provision has been implemented through East Sussex Academy, increasing local capacity and strengthening services across the county. As part of this transition, the places previously delivered through the satellite provision have now been integrated into the East Sussex Academy, meaning the satellite has fulfilled its original purpose and is no longer required in its current form.
It is a legal requirement from the Department for Education (DfE) that LSEAT conducts a three week public consultation in order for a significant change to take place – Please use the link here to give your view Consultation response form - Closure of Horizons Satellite Site in East Sussex – Fill in form. The consultation will finish on Friday 26th June
